Blood Feast (1963)
Connie Mason
Anyone who thinks that graphic American screen violence was
born with "Bonnie And Clyde" obviously wasn't frequenting the
drive-ins when Herschell Gordon Lewis was cranking out his initial
"Blood" trilogy; this was the original gore film, existing solely to
surround the director's vivid, color-filmed blood soaked setpieces. Hugely
profitable on tiny budget, this, and his subsequent "Two Thousand
Maniacs" and "Color Me Blood Red," played the circuits for years
to come.
