Fans awaiting the two stars to team up hoped for something a bit more substantial, but this 30s set crime piece, with a schizophrenic comedic-dramatic tone, still offered some good action and design. Blake Edwards started and abandoned it, with the leading ladies recast and Richard Benjamin taking over; the stars caricatured their images effortlessly.
