Several decisions were made to respin the previous boxoffice smash: the ascension of sudden star Carell from a memorable if brief turn in 2003, a reversal of Bruce's PG-13 add-ins to target the family/religious audiences with a light PG here, and the expenditure of an almost insane amount of money for CGI that would have been hard to recoup with Carrey, Carell and the resurrected Marx Bros.
