Postponed from a 2003 release, this long planned followup saw director Paul Schrader fired from the project after delivering a cut reportedly not gory enough; (an odd stipulation for a series that never depended on gore in the first place) Renny Harlin almost completely reshot. Boxoffice had typical recent horror pattern of a fairly big opening weekend with steep plummet, not helped by weak reviews and audience response.
