Years-planned sequel to "The Guns of Navarone" was Ford's first big "Star Wars" followup starring role and Shaw's last before his death (though the retooled "Avalanche Express was released even later.) One of the biggest of B-movie regular American International's offerings, as they tried to upscale a bit shortly before dissolution into other studios.
