Fans of the original fearing an MTV style remake of the classic were not quite right; initial preview, at least, looked amazingly faithful to tone of the earlier film (keeping 1973 setting) and poster eschews the usual floating photo heads common to the teen thrillers of the last several years; final result had some gorehound integrity and striking atmosphere, but came nowhere near challenging the reputation of the source.
