Darren Aronofsky ushered one of the great comeback tales of recent film history for the often troubled star, though he it could be argued that he'd been back since stealing Sin City from a host of comers just a few years back. Semantics aside, it was close to the proverbial role of a lifetime and showed a harmony within him that seemed to elude even his best work of the past.
